Our story

How it all began

Neva école de ski Val d'Isère – front de neige

Born from a passion, driven by a conviction

Founded in Val-d’Isère by Raphaël, a state-certified ski instructor, NEVA was born out of a simple belief: learning to ski should be as personal as it is challenging.

Formerly known as Prosneige Val-d’Isère, the school now asserts its own identity under the name NEVA. This new name reflects an unchanged ambition: to offer personalised support, based on small groups, a relationship of trust and the joy of progressing together.

Each season, NEVA supports over 2,500 skiers, from their first attempts on the slopes to off-piste adventures. All its instructors share the same values: kindness, high standards and a passion for teaching.

Your questions about
our group classes

The right level depends on your child’s experience. If they’ve never skied before, start with Wolf club (from age 4) or Neva 1 (from age 5). If they’ve already mastered the snowplough, Neva 2 opens up the blue runs. If they can ski in parallel, Neva 3 takes them onto the red runs. The Bronze, Silver, Gold, Pro and Legend levels are for experienced to elite skiers. If in doubt, choose the level that best matches their current ability: our instructors will adjust it from day one if necessary.

Yes, a ski pass is required to access the slopes. The good news is that it’s free for children under 8 in Val d’Isère.

The lunch club is a separate option, available as an add-on to all our packages. If you add this to your booking, your child will be taken to have lunch at the Avalin restaurant in Val d’Isère, then brought back to the lesson meeting point at 2 pm.

Yes, absolutely. If your child is progressing faster than expected or if the group isn’t quite the right level for them, we’ll assess their progress and can move them to a more suitable group as early as the following day.

Our group lessons are open to children aged 4 and above in our Wolf club level. Each child is assessed on their first day so they can be placed in the group that best matches their ability, from Wolf club right up to the Legend level for the most advanced learners.

Our group lessons bring together up to six children of the same level with one instructor; this is our standard format. It encourages healthy competition, builds confidence within the group and fosters a genuine learning atmosphere throughout the week, all at an affordable price. Private lessons are one-to-one with the instructor; they are more intensive and lack the group dynamic. We believe that with six children per group, we retain the best of personalised support without losing the magic of group learning.

The half-day option (3 hours, morning or afternoon) provides a suitable pace for making progress while leaving time to spend with the family. It can also be more comfortable for younger children by helping to limit fatigue.

The full-day option (6 hours, including a lunch break) gives students more time to consolidate their skills through extended practice and repetition throughout the day. It also gives parents greater freedom to organise their own day.

From intermediate level onwards, this additional practice time can make a noticeable difference to a student’s progress by the end of the week.

Our programme is structured across nine logical levels. Wolf club is for absolute beginners. Neva 1, 2 and 3 cover progression from snowploughing to red runs. Then come Bronze, Silver and Gold for children ranging from advanced to expert level. Finally, there are Pro and Legend for teenagers of a very high standard. Each level has its own terrain, objectives and badge awarded at the end of the week.

Yes, and that’s often when they really come into their own. With six children per group, your child has time to settle in without feeling overwhelmed. Our instructors are trained to spot the more reserved children and build a sense of trust. Most of the time, the group dynamic works in their favour: seeing others take the plunge makes it easier for them to give it a go.

Each child leaves with their badge (Wolf club, Neva 1 to 3, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Pro or Legend) and a medal presented by their instructor. These awards reflect their progress and encourage them to return the following winter to reach the next level. They also provide a recognised point of reference across all ski schools.
