Planning a ski trip to Val d’Isère with your kids and wondering how to sign them up for group lessons? How does it work, which level is right for them, what’s included? Here’s everything you need to know.
At NEVA, we look after children from age 4, right here at our shop on the snow front, 26 Place des Dolomites. Read on before you book.
What is a group ski lesson in Val d’Isère?
A group ski lesson in Val d’Isère is a lesson taught by an instructor, in a small group of children at the same level. At NEVA, groups are capped at 6 students maximum, a deliberately small number so that every child gets real attention and progresses at their own pace.
Groups are put together by level and age, so children ski together in the right conditions for them. It’s also a chance to make friends, share laughs on the slopes, and build memories that last long after the holiday.

Available formats
Half-day morning
From 9am to 12pm. Perfect for younger children who tire quickly, or families who want to keep their afternoons free to ski together.
Half-day afternoon
From 2pm to 5pm. A good option for those arriving mid-day or who prefer a relaxed morning.
Full day
The morning and afternoon session combined, with the same instructor. The continuity makes a real difference: the instructor knows each child, their strengths and hesitations. They adapt the exercises accordingly.
Week-long course
The format that delivers the best results. The same instructor follows the group from start to finish, Sunday through Friday. Children progress quickly, and it’s at the end of this week that the medal is awarded. A moment they won’t forget.
The 9 NEVA levels: how to know where your child stands
NEVA has developed a progressive 9-level ski programme for children, each one corresponding to a precise stage. At the end of the stay, the instructor awards each child the medal for their level. A real recognition of their effort, and a great reason to come back next year.
🐺 Loupiot, beginner, from age 4
First steps on snow. The goal: learn the first snowplough turns and move around independently on green runs.
❄️ Neva 1, intermediate, from age 5
The child learns to control speed and direction, and starts traversing the slope with parallel skis.
❄️ Neva 2, intermediate, from age 5
First parallel turns and introduction to poles. The terrain moves on to blue runs.
❄️ Neva 3, intermediate, from age 5
Parallel skiing is mastered, skidding well under control. The child is comfortable on blues and starting to tackle reds.
🥉 Neva Bronze 4, advanced, from age 8
Introduction to carving and freestyle. Red runs and first blacks become their playground.
🥈 Neva Silver 5, advanced, from age 8
Versatility, easy moguls, carving development. The child explores all pistes and starts the snowpark.
🥇 Neva Gold 6, advanced, from age 8
Advanced carving, giant slalom, freeride, boardercross. The child skis everywhere, off-piste included.
🏔️ Neva Pro 7, expert, from age 10
Dynamic short turns, off-piste, freestyle on all terrain and in all conditions.
🏔️ Legend 8, expert, from age 10
The highest level. Fluid, precise and committed skiing, with complete autonomy on all terrain and in all conditions.
The medal is awarded by the instructor at the end of the stay. A proud moment children talk about for months afterwards.

Why Val d’Isère is the perfect place to learn to ski
Val d’Isère is part of the Espace Killy, one of the largest ski areas in the Alps, shared with Tignes. With over 300km of runs and an altitude ranging from 1850m to 3456m, snow is reliably good from December through May.
For children learning to ski, Val d’Isère has wide, well-groomed green runs accessible directly from the snow front. And for those who progress quickly, there’s no shortage of terrain: from blues and reds to blacks, the snowpark and off-piste.
Our shop is at 26 Place des Dolomites, right at the heart of the snow front, a short walk from the lifts. The ideal spot to start your day on the mountain without any fuss.
